Do you know where the fur trim on your jacket comes from? Unbeknownst to most, the majority of fur-trimmed clothing and accessories (even trinkets and pet toys) labeled as “faux fur” or “synthetic” is likely real fur, mostly from cats and dogs. It is estimated that over two million domestic cats and dogs (the majority stolen pets and homeless strays) are killed in China every year for their fur, which is exported under false labeling to North America and Europe. There are no governing laws to protect animals, resulting in agonizing torment and death for these defenseless animals.

This largely unknown animal protection issue is exposed in this powerful film short and brought into the international spotlight.  Through the Director’s strategic partnership with ACTAsia for Animals, the film has made great strides throughout Asia with groundbreaking media coverage in China, the world’s largest exporter of animal skins and the mecca of the cat and dog fur trade, breaking through the red curtain of media control in Asia.  The film was translated in Chinese language and screened at a press conference in Shenzhen, China, attended by the national media, and made significant impact, with precedent-setting TV news coverage of the cat and dog fur trade at its epicenter, broadcasting clips from the film.

The fur trade is criminal, inflicting horrific torture upon more than 75 million fur-bearing animals every year, including man’s best friend and feline companion, in the name of profit, vanity and self-aggrandizement. This figure does not include rabbits, which the UN reports to be at least one billion killed each year strictly for their fur.

CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can’t Speak is precedent-setting Documentary Film Series which takes a spiritual approach to this dark subject, so that an awakening can occur from a deeper level of the psyche.  It is clear that until the soul of humanity is awakened, the atrocities committed against nonhuman animals will continue with no end in sight. We cannot cure the disease unless we heal the source. Any lesser remedy is akin to applying a bandage to a severed limb.

This Documentary Film Series is a call to action for the billions of animals around the world who suffer and die tragically in silence, their cries for mercy unheard, hoping in their hearts that we will hear their pleas for life.

Rescue 07 in Wuhan, China

We cannot hope to make a difference through apathy.  Closing our eyes will only serve to empower this horrific industry.  As conscious consumers, our purchasing power is our strength in shutting this barbaric industry down.

Vanity Fair's Hotlist May 2009

We see the world piece by piece, as the sun, the moon, the animal, the tree; but the whole of which these are, the shining parts, is the soul.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is power in the collective force. Together, in collaborative solidarity, we will bring truth to this shallow world devoid of soul, so our society can be healed and compassion toward animals will become a new paradigm of spiritual evolution on our planet.

  1. How can they have such a hard heart to kill those sweet and kind animals for their fur to make money. Disgusting. I love them so much, they don’t deserve having animals in China, Asia etc. I’m in terrible shock right now. Words are missing to say what I would like so much to say.

  2. These beautiful, soulful, innocent and voiceless animals deserve a happy and safe life. WE MUST BE THEIR VOICE. Not all devils are in hell yet, those that treat these innocent creatures with such brutality are nothng more than the devil himself.

  3. …and stop wearing leather. Kudos for making this important film.

  4. Thank you so much for raising awareness on the horrific fur trade. I pray that many more people will open their eyes and their hearts so we can stop this madness. Animals give us unconditional love. We should give it back to them, not torture them with unimaginable pain. Really, I don’t understand people who wear fur.

    • We are actively involved in animal rights and will share this report everywhere. Thanks for sharing this news. Wish you great success.

  5. What are we? Are we really human beings? Did god make us like this? Did we come to earth to kill other living beings, to skin them alive to wear their skin for fashion to show how rich we are? How would we feel if we were skinned alive for someone else to use our skin? I wonder the monsters who are running this business, how can they sleep at night after hearing the cry of the innocent ones? How can they look in the mirror after seeing the helpless eyes of the voiceless? How can they eat their bread knowing that the money with which they bought the bread is by killing the ones who have never harmed them? There is a saying “when the bird is alive they eat ants, but when birds die ants eat them”… I believe in KARMA. The ones who are doing this barbaric act will also suffer equally. And I pray and wish that day comes soon.

  6. The appalling, unbelievable cruelty involved in China’s fur farms cannot be ignored. Each of us can make a difference, don’t wear fur, even ‘faux’ fur, become a supporter or activist… Believe one person can make a difference by informing others of the horrors being perpetrated in China’s fur farms, get signatures on anti-fur petitions, etc. Apathy won’t help these suffering animals, neither will ignoring it because you find these graphic images too upsetting. Forget your feelings and try to imagine how the hapless and helpless animals being brutalized, abused and often skinned alive feel. They urgently need our help.

  7. I don’t understand why anyone would want to wear fur. These people who buy and wear it need to go to the fur farms and see with their own eyes the abuse, torture and death these animals endure on a daily basis. It might spark some conscience within them and stop them from buying and wearing it again in the future. DON’T WEAR FUR. IT’S CRUEL, WICKED AND WRONG.

  8. The more I see, the more sad and disgusted I am. It is absolutely cruel how this goes on. I cannot comprehend under any circumstance why people are so cruel, barbaric & murderers of these animals who are made sad in long drawn out pain, suffering & die barbarically, and to think they watch all this before their turn, not even cared for, fed & watered properly, transported properly, get no love & care & respect whatsoever, yet they make money off them. Absolutely makes you ashamed we are part of a nasty evil human race. It needs to be stopped and laws & punishments for this long overdue, inexcusable totally of the governments in these countries that it happens in.

  9. Thank you so much for what you are doing… we have to open people’s eyes and consciousness…thank you, thank you so much for doing this…

  10. JE NE veux plus que des s animaux soit torturait massacrait pour rien stop merci

  11. I am so glad for some awareness… it gives hope, but tell us please, is there more we can do? NEED TO HOLD HOPE… IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FLAME TO CARRY. I hope so much that the voices of all speaking out is helping… I just can’t believe that a good chunk of the human species has become so cold… I JUST HOPE TO GOD THAT IT WON’T BE ON SOME SILENT DAY… ALL DEAD. IT IS A FOOL WHO CALLS ONLY HUMANS WORTHY OF HELP. I don’t know what the world is. I trust so many but then, even not mean people, turn heads away, worry about $—allow inhumanity to rise, rise, RISE… apathy takes over… if not stopped, oh… just let it be before a cold hard silence under a slate-hard sky tell us … we are too late.

  12. “The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were no more made for humans than black people were made for white people or women were made for men.” – Alice Walker

  13. Love, love, love what you are doing! This has to stop, we must create consciousness! Thank you!
